Thanks Dave. In 4 months, I will have been restoring Hummers for 20 years straight. Seems like I would have to have learned something by now !!! The main reason I learned what I have, is, I just wanted my own restorations to be as original as is possible.

That way, somewhere down the road, when the next "caretaker" of my bikes get them, they won't have to worry about what was park or cad. I spent 20 years collecting old photos, magazine road tests of REAL brand new bikes fresh off the showroom floors, talking to known old dealers with good memories back then, and collecting NOS parts and taking photos of them, before I used them or sold them.

I got to check out a NOS in the original box -50 petcock. (ULTRA RARE) They are gold irridited. I have yet to see any "restored" bike with the petcock correctly refinished this way. To have a 100 point bike is virtually impossible, but getting it as close as is humanly possible is my goal.

I will see if I can dig out the picture and post it. Starting the day I saw the part, I decided to start doing this to my own petcocks . The very small details REALLY set off a restoration from a "run-of-the-mill" preservation.
