:-) "Well, she's not the Virgin I imagined but I'll love her anyway.....after all, she looks and feels like I remember my first time in the saddle." ......brings back fond memerories for me. Thanks. BYB ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Mutt brought me out of the darkness as well. I have eight (8) S/ST tanks on the shelf awaiting resoration.....and a cherished '48 bike that I have always believed was original....you know the story....barn...old man...never touched .....any way, guess what?? not only are none of the eight sans the reinforcement tabs...the '48 has the wrong tank. Wow! My Cherry has more experience than I thought. Well, she's not the Virgin I imagined but I'll love her anyway.....after all, she looks and feels like I remember my first time in the saddle. By the way, if you have a '48 tank for sale...let me know Don Ellington Atlanta ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Add one more to the list, I got 5 tanks but not a 48-49... Too Tall Paul ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Dewey, I hope ya find the tank you need. The 1948-49 tank is specific to those years only. Right now, 2 other club members are also searching for that same tank (Danny Baran and Don Ellington). Notice the lack of reinforcement tabs on teh front of the tank. The mounting tabs are welded to the inside of the tank on the 48-49 models. No telling how many people are running around with the early tank on there 50's 165's !!!Here is a pic of the 1950-66 tank front showing the reinforcement tabs ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I'm looking for a good tank for my 48' restoration project. I must have, by mistake, sold the one I had thinking the tank without the ignition switch was correct, I have a perfect rust free, in primer, tank for pacer, super 10, or ? I also have the same type tank fully restored and painted Hi Fi turquoise with Pacer decals and clear coated. A better than new 100 point tank Call Dewey Bond 407-466-4895 or email dewey@powdercoatingshop.com |
