Hello All,

I have a 1956 Harley Hummer 165 and it had no key when I got it so I ordered a new ignition switch and today as I was putting it in I ran in to what may very well be a problem. I marked all four of the wires as I took them off a few months ago by tieing strands of copper wire to the eyelets at the end of the wire there where they attach to the switch. I marked them pretty much as you would on a car distributor so you don't forget what went where. My notes say starting at one oclock and going clockwise they would be one two three four and there was no wire at eleven oclock. I did not have sense enough to notice that by not marking the switch itself I could get it 180 out when I put the new one in. On the switch there is two of the wires close together and if someone will be so kind as to tell me whether those two wires are at eight oclock or are they at two oclock it would straighten me out before I hook up the battery and have it wrong. It may not hurt a thing but I would rather know before I put the juice to it because parts are not cheap for these little buggers. If its not too much trouble you may want to tell me where the hindge for the cover on the switch is when the switch is off, that would be a double proof that I have it correct. Sorry for the long drawn out explanation but its the only way I have to explain it. I did look in my service manual but it only gives the color of the wires and mine are so old I cannot make any colors out. Looking forward to getting this thing to purring. I had one when I was 14 but that was fifty years ago and have CRS disease.
