The biggest problem with restoring, or even understanding the differences in what the Factory 'offered'is the fact that they pretty much did what they wanted to do. As with most factories they never considered that anyone would be watching closely. It's not a bad thing, just a production thing. If you look at the Judging Rules/Concepts of the AMCA you'll see that their judging system is based on input from numerous judges who have been involved in motorcycle repair, service and restoration for years. It's an 'Evolving thing' and we're all learning from it. If you're going through a 100 point restoration for judging then welcome to the tredmill...if you're out to have fun then paint it purple and laugh at peoples reaction to it. As for me I've gone both ways (motorcycles). I own 'Trailer Queens' and have 'fun bikes' too. Which do I prefer? Both.
Jerry, would you care to input here? Every Harley Dealer I've ever known uses his 'Factory books' as 'guides', not 'Gospel'. BYB

The Topper Color/Equipment/Accessories Manual that Harley printed has the same info for 1960. The 61 list Granada Green and White. My 65 is black and white which this book list as a 63 and 64 only color. Maybe the colors overlaped the year models.

According to the Harley-Davidson-published book "The Legend Begins", there was only one color combination offered on the 1960 Topper: "Two-Toned Strato Blue." In the picture, the Topper "Two-Toned" treatment appears to be a combination of white panels with blue main areas. By the way, 1960 was the first year of Topper production, which should enhance the collectibility of the scooter.

I am restoring a '55 ST 165, but came across a cool '60 Harley Topper just a few miles from my house. Can anyone tell me what colors these little scooters came in? This one is green, and I am concerned this was not an original color. Thanks!
