I UNDERSTAND THAT FUEL DOES NOT FLOW EVEN THOUGH YOU BYPASS THE VALVE FROM THE TANK. THAT WOULD MEAN THE
FLOAT IS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION. THAT CAN HAPPEN IF THE FLOAT VALVE (PN27536)CAN'T MOVE IN THE VALVE SOCKET (IN BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT BOWL) BECAUSE IT IS FILLED WITH DEBRIS. AN EASY CHECK AND FIX AS FOLLOWS:

UNSCREW THE THROTTLE PISTON CAP SO IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM
THE CARBURETOR
LOOSEN THE CARB CLAMP.
REMOVE CARB AND TAKE TO YOUR WORK BENCH.
REMOVE THE FLOAT BOWL CAP.
NOTE THE LITTLE SOCKET IN CENTER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOAT BOWL.
USING A 1/16 IN. DRILL BIT, YOU CAN ROTATE THE BIT IN THE SOCKET WITH YOUR FINGERS TO REMOVE ANY DEBRIS IN THE SOCKET. CLEANED THOROUGHLY, THE SOCKET DEPTH IS ABOUT 1/4 IN WHICH ALLOWS THE FLOAT AND NEEDLE TO MOVE UP AND DOWN TO REGULATE FUEL FLOW. USING ONLY FINGER PRESSURE ON THE DRILL BIT WILL PREVENT YOU FROM PUTTING A HOLE IN THE BOWL BOTTOM.

CHECK THE FLOAT TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT DAMAGED BEFORE REASSEMBLY. REMOVE THE FLOAT PIN, PLACE FLOAT IT IN A GLASS JAR WITH ENOUGH GAS TO FLOAT THE FLOAT BY AT LEAST TWICE ITS HEIGHTH. LEAVE IN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH A LOOSE LID ON THE JAR. IF THE FLOAT DOESN'T CHANGE DISPLACEMENT, IT SHOULD BE GOOD AND YOU CAN REASSEMBLE AND PUT BACK ON THE ENGINE. IF IT CHANGES POSITION OR SINKS YOU GET TO BUY A NEW FLOAT.
THE MISSING FLOAT PRIMER PIN CAN BE REPLACED PN 27525-53
THESE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE HERE AND WITH OTHERS IF YOU WANT OR NEED THEM.

I'm still trying to get my little Hummer 1956 165 running. My old fuel valve was stuck up so bad I can't get any fuel through it, plus I damaged, or it was already damaged, the screen part. I ordered a used one off Epay and it is stuck up tight as well. I tried everything to get it unstuck including almost straight muriatic acid and it wont clean out either. Then I decided to run a straight hose from the tank to the carb and it don't get fuel that way either. It is probably crimpted as it dosen't go straight down.

The tank is clearly open so thats not an issue and I filled it full to the brim.

Now, the carb is missing the little plunger that should be in the top of the carb to put fuel straight to the float bowl. Would this plunger be keeping fuel from reaching the carb?

I cleaned the carb in carb cleaner overnight and it was not bad so I don't see that as a problem.

Can someone tell me where I can buy a known good fuel shut off valve?
