Justin,

I too recently purchased a true Hummer (1956). There is a picture of mine on the members page under 1956 Hummer. Mine is not exactly original but close. I ended up paying nearly $6000 for it. Some people would say that is high. It is all about what you are looking for and what is available. The reason I paid so much is it is the year my dad was born and my grandpa bought one exactly like it the day my dad came into this world. Also, coupled with the fact the guy I purchased it from crated it up and shipped it to me in Hawaii, I felt it was a fair deal but then again it is all perception.

There are people out there like me looking for these bikes, some to rebuild them and some to want them running when they buy it. Either way supply and demand drives the price. These bikes are old and few and far between. I live in Hawaii and was offered $8000 for my bike a few weeks ago but I will not sell it, because as long as I can remember I always wanted a Hummer and I am not greedy for money.

Basically, take alook around. You will soon see the price for these varies dramatically. If you are looking to sell it do everyone a favor. Ask for a good price (nothing too large) so do not get greedy. Greedy people are why we are in such an economic crap hole today. I have my Hummer for the love of it, not for the money. Try to get it started and running and take a ride, you may just realize their is more to life than money.

Having recently purchased a Hummer and new to this msg board, I found this thread particularly interesting. It is good to know who you can trust and who to watch out for.

Before I bought mine, I checked out the Ebay section on the "STUFF" page; that was a big help, especially for a first Hummer buyer like me; thanks to Dennis for putting that page together!

I also watched the prices on Ebay for a while to get a feel for what they were selling for; I ended up with an unrestored/original 1958 Hummer in Very Good to Excellent running condition for $4000 off Ebay. I was actually prepared to go a little higher.

This site has a great page to help determine a price for these bikes. Click on "STUFF" (top right)and then go to Ebay blessing or curse. Here you will find Hummer's that were for sale/sold and the prices. Let me apologize to you on behalf of the Hummer exchange. We are supposed to be here to help the Hummer community. Not for personal gain.
