CHECK YOUR GAS CAP. MAY NOT BE VENTING

----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS -----
having a blast with my 65 Pacer, that many of you have helped me with this
year. but i have had this bit of an anomoly happen a few times and each time i
try something that i think will fix it, it seems to happen again, so i thought i
would just have to through it out there and see what you all think.

if i ride out about 12-15 mile to the next town (with no problems) and maybe
let the bike sit for half hour or so and then head back home, after i have
gone about 10 miles back home the bike just dies. it doesnt BLAAA out, it
just dies. and it starts right back up one kick no problem. but being i am
about 2-4miles from home, i havent tried to go another 12miles i just ride it
home glad that i am not pushing it.

i dont consider it a fuel problem especially after all the carb and petcock help
i got from you fellas.

the weather is usually 80 some degrees, i dont ride crazy usually a steady
45-50mph on the backroads, so there is an occasional stop sign. after it
happened a second time i replaced all the wiring with a correct harness
hoping that after getting the birds nest like wiring job off of the magneto,
that would fix the problem. after it happened a third time i replaced the
points and condensor courtesy of Duane Taylor. and last weekend it
happened a fourth time so i thought i should throw it out there at you all.

i still have the original coil on there and the original coil to spark plug wire.
could it be either of those failing at higher temperatures? i am using a
champion, H10C sparkplug. the bike starts on the 3rd kick when cold and 1or
2 when warm.

i am stumped because it happens after such a specific amount of miles.

any thoughts/advice is much appreciate!!

thanks and happy 4th
chris
