The description sounds like fuel flow restriction. If you have a newer tank valve it is a frequent problem as the valve diaphragms were crudely/improperly made. If the valve is original, it still may be a diaphragm failure because of aging. The valve solution now is a 3/8 NPT brass, on/off valve you can get at most auto parts stores for $10-15. It will do the trick until a good valve comes on the market. Duane Taylor duane -A- taylorclassiccycles ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I was riding my '57 165 ST when it started to run erratically- like starving for fuel- then bogged down. It will restart and idle for a bit, then surges and cuts out. I've taken apart the carb and cleaned everything, replaced condenser, checked all connections and it still does it. Anyone have suggestions? |
