Bryn, No I haven't committed to the bike yet. I'm still gathering info and cost numbers. The bike that I'm referring to has been in the family for almost 50 years so there is some sentimental value associated with this particular one. Thanks for the feedback though. Rgds, Bob ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Hi Bob...I don't know if you have committed to the bike yet or not, but I have a 57' ST165 for sale. I live in Canada but the bike I purchased from a gentleman in California. It has been a terrific bike, all original unrestored and has been a good runner. I last put it on the road in 2008 and then in my studio where it has sat. I need to replace a couple of wires that I noticed were worn but all in all is a terrific bike. I road it for three years just around town and had a ball. Please let me know if you have any interest. I am asking $5000.00 US and guaranteed you will put this much into doing a full restoration yourself. I am working on an english bike and wish I had maybe bought one already done! Hind Site! Thanks and good luck with your venture. Regards Bryn ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I'm looking for some feedback from club members. I have an opportunity to acquire a 1957-165 Hummer. It has been stored in a garage since the mid- sixties. The owner did no long term storage prep on the bike when he quit riding it and I don't think that the engine has even been turned over in the past 40+ odd years. The bike will require a complete frame off restoration as well an engine tear-down rebuild. I live in the Louisville, Kentucky area and would to discuss this entire process with some knowledgeable folks before I commit to the project. The motorcycle is all original and completely intact. Who does this kind of work, cost, etc....? Let me know if you can give me some insight on this project. Rgds, Bob |
