That no title question raises a good point. I am in the process of purchasing a 1958 165 ST and the person does not have a current title to it. We have to do some checking with the DMV, but I would think that proof of title has to be there to legally license it. I do believe you can find the colors on this site, but if you look at some of the pics for 58's, they did have a different sort of paint scheme to the tanks. Thanks for bringing that question up about the title. ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- When I view the paint that has not been removed it appears to be what I would call a metalic brown. I see no mention of this color for a 1958. Can I assume this is a non-original paint color? Can you match the original paint scheme to the VIN number? Lastly, is it correct that these bikes (1958) did not come with a Title? ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I bought this 1958 165 ST yesterday for $1000, here is Alaska. Seems to be 95% complete. I am looking forward to restoring and showing at next years annual Anchorage AK bike show. Any thoughts on determining if this bike is one of the ones known to exist. I move into my house I bought net week and can't wait to get started. Lastly, I appreciate the web site and all of the dedication that's evident. |
