Bruce, The bearing race arrived today and it is in perfect condition. I didn't expect perfection for free, but I am very grateful for your gesture Bruce. What a welcome I've gotten into the Hummer society. Everyone I've come into contact with has been warm, friendly, and generous. You all should be proud of what you have built here. I've a few days off and nearly all the parts I need to put the frame & forks back together, so you know where I'll be for a while. I'll post some pics as I go along. And no doubt some newbie questions. Stay tuned! Joe Mc ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Yes Joe you need a upper race. Email me your address and i will send you one no charge. Bruce Mackenzie harleyrestoration.com ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- It's time to remount the triple trees. I've located and replaced the 2 bearing races in the frame stem and the lower race on the lower triple tree. I cannot find, and don't think I removed an upper race from the upper stem when I took this thing apart. There was a stamped silver cap that topped all of this off, but it doesn't seem to be a proper bearing race. The parts book doesn't seem to be of any help. I can't find the frame mounted races listed, and the triple tree pic shows 2 45736-47 cones on page 23. This leads me to believe that I'm missing one piece of this puzzle. Is it possible that a bearing race was missing when I took all of this apart? Maybe someone has a better picture than the parts book, or a better description than I have given? Thanks Joe |
