Nice looking bike Rusty. What part of West Virginia were those back roads, are you there now ?? I have a 53 st165 I used to ride the back roads on before I had my license oh so many years ago. I'm still in Barboursville, WestVirginia near Huntington.I'll leave the technical part to the guys who know what they are talking about. Good luck !!

Newbie here, or maybe not! Let me tell you about my first motorcycle. In 1964 my dad bought me a used 1960 Super 10. I was on top of the world! A REAL motorcycle! My dad and I would ride on some of the back roads in West Virginia as I was to young to have a license. I repainted, rebuilt and repaired just about everything on the bike and I was as proud of it as any motorcyclist could be of there machine. But as some story's have sad endings , I wrecked it, and parted it out. Motorcycles have always been a part of my life and so today I am riding a 2007 ultra glide(geezer glide) and have retired from 30 years of teaching collision repair at a technical school. A couple of years ago I got to thinking about all the good times and good memories I had of my first motorcycle and decided I needed my first motorcycle again. I started looking around on e-bay and such. My old super 10 had a buddy seat and looking around this is not the seat of choice for most, but that is the way I remember my bike. A couple of years ago I saw a buddy seat come up on e-bay and bought it. That was the start of a search for a 1960 super 10. I bought one just a month ago and again am on top of the world! I think buying it brought more joy than the Ultra!
The bike is pretty much complete and not sure if I want to restore or just leave as is, as it is in very good original condition . Any way I have a couple of questions and sure I will have more to come. What oil are you all using and what ratio? I used to use just straight 30w oil but I am sure there is something better now a days, and the bike didn't have a wiring harness so I ordered one from Hummer Emporium Vintage Parts. Now I need to know how the wiring is routed around the engine and up by the forks. I am thinking it went between the engine and frame mounts, but that was along time ago and I can't even remember what I ate for lunch.

Thanks
Rusty Jenkins
