That's an old-style buddy seat. They're pretty hard to find these days. To see one in action, go to the Members page, scroll down to 1954 Model 165, click on Kermit Boner #35 52500-51 and 52500-52 - not sure what the difference was. In 1960, they started offering a different buddy seat - 52486-60 (black/white), 52488-60 (red/white) 52490-60 (white) - these are much nicer looking. I think they used a similar buddy seat on some Sportsters. There was also an auxiliary seat! 91526-49 Haven't seen one of those in years. Not sure, but did they mount on the luggage carrier? Buddy seats were not very popular - they certainly didn't look as nice as the solo saddle. And unless both you and your passenger were lightweights... Dave ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Pulled this seat off of a 54 165. Every seat I have seen is more of a tractor style seat. Is this a hummer seat, or was it just jerry rigged on at some point? |
