JAY; A 55 YEAR OLD ENGINE THAT HAS NOT BEEN RUNNING FOR 25 YEARS--BEST REMOVE THE CYLINDER HEAD AND SEE IF THERE IS CYLINDER RUST THAT IS PREVENTING A FULL TURN CYCLE. IN ANY EVENT, I WOULD VIEW THIS 55 YO ENGINE AS ONE THAT NEEDS A COMPLETE REBUILD. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR WORK BUT CAN REFER YOU TO THOSE THAT DO ENGINES. DUANE TAYLOR ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Does anyone have any ideas. Working on a 63 175cc scat. I have owned since early 70s bike hasn't run for 25 years. kicker would rotate engine with ease I removed points to clean, after that the kicker will not turn the engine. I removed clutch plates thinking they may be stuck but even without plates front primary gear will not move. I am hesitant to go farther into the engine since I seem to be causing more harm than good. Jay |
