Restore   Chapter 44   1962 Pacer Up  >

1962 Pacer

1962 was a most confusing year. It was the last year for the rigid frame models, and Harley was gearing up for big changes - and in typical fashion, using up the old parts.

The 1962 Pacer BT was 175cc
The 1962 Scat BTH was 175cc
The 1962 Pacer BTU (See, Teen Wheels) was 165cc
The 1962 Ranger BTF was 165cc

It looks to us like H-D was using up extra 165cc engines on the Pacer STU and Ranger, probably, in typical fashion, running them until they ran out. The only production figure comes from The Legend Begins, which lists that 1,983 of all variants were produced that year. We think that only about 200 Rangers and 50 Pacer STUs were produced.

Standard Colors: Tango Red and Skyline Blue
Special Colors: Hi-Fi Red, Hi-Fi Purple (but not on BTF)
