Yes there is a battery. So did they not even offer a 125 in that
time frame?

correct no such motor in 66, the "S" was 48-52 and that seams
to be an "S".

The frame Z& tins seam to be a Scat, the tail light might be
wrong, but basically a Scat. The S is a generator engine and I
see a regulator, is there a battery box? Hmmm someone may
have done a good job of fitting the S on the later frame.

So there was no such motor in 1966 that was a S?what model
does the
pic suggest still a scat?

Shawn,

From your pic that is an early 125 motor (the "S" model), also
that is a
spring frame.

The serial number is a little high for any year. and that body
was not
offered in 66 nor did they ever publish info suggesting a 125
spring frame
bike was built.

Some Harley mechanic probably built it from stuff high on the
back shelf.

just a guess. Doug

I believe it is a spring frame. I thought I read somewhere that
there was
an economy or plain version that maybe came with a 125. But
the year
still doesnt add up?

Nice You got a new bike.

I wonder at whether someone put a case intended to rebuild a
failed
(125) motor and keep the same serial #, then stamped it with
a made up
#. Is it a spring frame?

Maybe you could post pics.

Just recently bought a 1966 Harley Scat. After further
investigation I
cant find anything that says they were made after 1965. This
bike also is a
125 and not a 165 which seems to be not right. The
documentation
seems legite so what gives? Oh ya the serial number is
66s18362.Any
thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
