Hey Guys, this class was made for the Harley 165/175 in 1992 to race at Davenport. They have raced every year since. It really took of for a while. One year we had 14 HD 165s. Some years later Wauseon picked it up. All you have to do is read the rules for this class. The heading says"165 LIGHTWEIGHT-1948-1966". Rule number 2 says "years of bikes are 1948-1966 Harley Davidson. And other rules gives you the guide lines of what you can do to them. I understand entries were low at Wauseon this year, but letting a Jap bike race (was it a 160 Honda?) is surely not going to make the class grow. We need to keep it a 165 Harley class. AHRMA has a road race class just for the 160 Honda. I would like to see that class added to Davenport and Wauseon. As far as the BSA Bantam goes, I have one and thought about building it for the 165 Harley class. I talked to Matt George (the promoter at Davenport) and he said if 1/2 of the riders oked it, it would be ok with him. More than 1/2 that I talked to said they didn't have a problem with it. I don't think that the Bantam could be made into a threat this late. Some of the Harley racers have had a bunch of years to make them go fast. But, it would bring out some more interest for the class which is what we need to keep it going. So, if any of you have a Bantam to race, bring it to Davenport and I'm sure you could race it on a trial basis and the rest of you need to object to the Jap Twins running or it will turn into that class. Is that what you want?

Fred, the class is 165cc and does not specify number of cylinders. So, if you enter a two cylinder Japanese bike with less than 165cc you can spank the Milwaukee lightweigths if you want to

Reading this, my curiosity got the best of me. Missed Wauseon but hope to run my Hummer racer at Davenport. What's the deal with the "Jap Crap" taking the trophy? Are the promoters changing the rules? Not enough Hummers showing up? A few years ago at Davenport, I asked Hummer racers if the would object to me running a BSA Bantam next year. The response I got made me fear for my life. I quickly hid behind my BSA 250 Flattracker until the heat went down. LOL!!! Anyway, sure would like to know what's going on. Don't even want to think about the money and time I've spent in the last year building what I thought might be a competitive bike. Now this? Or maybe I should start looking around for a Yamaha or Suzuki. (Just Kidding)

Travis,
You should have brought that bike to Wauseon this year. The #00 bike did very well and the #65 bike did OK too, but the trophy went to a 2 cyl piece of Jap Crap (not fair completion IMO) We need some more serious competitors from the Milwaukee lightweights. There was even a 13 year old girl riding one in the class this year, we hope she stays with it and makes us proud!

Hello Fellow hummer enthusiasts ! I have a 1955 165 Flat Track race bike that I am making available to all you race fans and wanna-be's.
It is like new and has only been started a half dozen times. The motor was built by Stan Waite of the "Thunder Hummer" fame. Stan had built many of the race bike motors you will see at Davenport and the other race venues back east. It was built with the last of my NOS Puckett race parts and even has the extremely rare and impossible to find race gears. Comes with two sets of bars and several rear sprockets.
Don't miss out on another year of great fun racing ! Email me directly at travis.harleyhummernut@gmail.com
