Nope, they weren't made like that. That is caused from people over tightening the nuts. I fix them on every one of those type motors I get in and on all the carbs that I restore. All ya need is a press. If you feel uncomfortable doing it, send it to me.

Thanks

Dave,

Don't touch them flanges! At least until you get a definitive answer.

I haven't taken the carb off my 1955 Hummer in awhile, but I believe the flanges are made that way. Why? I have no idea. But I remember looking at them and saying WTF? And then bolting the carb on anyway.

Maybe Mutt or another expert can chime in with a definitive answer - and some wisdom.

Dave

DOES ANY ONE IN HUMMERVILLE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO KNOW HOW TO STRAIGHTEN THESE FLANGES? I DONT HAVE A CLUE HOW THIS HAPPENED. IT WAS LIKE THIS WHEN I GOT THE BIKE PROJECT. I DID'NT REALLY WANT TO PUT ANY HEAT TO THE FLANGES, BUT MAY'BE SOME ONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WILL CHIME IN. THANK'S IN ADVANCE.
