Duane, I had to laugh at your 'slight' disagreement! Yes, for all intents and purposes you're right.... but that's mostly now because of you. Your parts are Factory quality... and a recent upturn on eBay with 48-50 parts 'suddenly' becoming available. Fenders? (for years) impossible. Speedo's? Nada. Rubber bands? Nope. Poorly tabbed gas tanks? Rare. "HD 125 Tail light red len's"? Still a Hen's tooth. Find a good English pebble style seat cover? IMPOSSIBLE. The AMCA Judges accepted my seat cover and I made them take points off. That's why mine is only a 97 1/2. (I also had to point out to them my voltage regulator was the wrong year).
Bobcat bodies? You rock!!!! I have to ask.... does Janet have to come down to the shop to drag you home for dinner?

ROOKIE:

WELCOME.
20 YRS AGO IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REBUILD A
48-50 MODEL. IN "SLIGHT" DISAGREEMENT WITH BRENT, I
WOULD SAY THAT MOST OF THE PARTS ARE REPRODUCED AND AVAILABLE NOW. HEADLIGHT INTERNALS ARE ABOUT THE ONLY
REAL DIFFICULT TO FIND PARTS AND THERE ARE SUBSTITUTIONS
THAT WILL WORK. E-MAIL IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR POST IT ON THE EXCHANGE AND SOMEONE WILL RESPOND.

Welcome. The '49 is an early year and a lot of the correct parts are hard to find.... but you've come to the right place.
There are many members here that have started down the same road you find yourself on and are willing to help. I started with a '48. Enjoy the journey.

Just wanted to introduce myself as I just purchased a 49 hummer barn find. I have had and built a custom 03 sporty and now I am looking for anyone's best practices for restoration.

Thank you
