You're right, nobody around here had them or had ever heard
of 5/16-32.

Should be here early next week. In the mean time I'm also
waiting on a couple of parkerized 12-24 nuts.....nobody
around here has them either...that's what makes this fun. :)

These taps are a little hard to find. Try here:
http://www.mscdirect.com and type "straight flute taps" into
the search box. Select 5/16-32, and then the kind of
chamfer you want.

You may want the bottoming or modified bottoming since many
of these holes don't have much room on the other side.

Can someone please let me know what the thread size is for
the
zerk grease fittings on a '48 125. I would like to buy a
couple of taps to clean up the threads for one of the
fittings
on the forks. Thanks.
