The ratio is 25:1 That's about 5.2 ounces of oil to a gallon of gas. I buy 1 gallon of gas in a can, and then add in the oil. Shake a little, and then pour in the tank.

Don't mix up more than you will need, as gasoline with ethanol goes bad much faster than olde-fashioned gas. I mix up a gallon in the spring, then another one in mid-summer. That usually lasts me through the riding season.

Originally, Harley used SAE 40 non-detergent oil. That's hard to come by these days, and modern two-stroke oil is much better anyway.

I buy a quart of 2-stroke oil, and use as needed. Many stores sell little 2.6 ounce bottles - these are great if you're taking a long ride, and think you might need to get gas along the way. The little bottles fit in your pocket, and you can mix with 1/2 gallon of gas if you run low.

In 35 years of Hummering, I don't think I've ever used the mixing cup on the gas cap.

Still getting ready to start my 48 model. It has been started by the man who restored it, but not by me, yet. The oil cap on the bike says 2 caps for one gallon. That sounds like a lot of oil. Can anyone tell me if that is what is needed with today's oils?
