I just cut the repair piece out of 1/8 thick hot rolled sheet and braze it. Pre-heat a little and focus the heat on the cylinder since the brass often prefers to run to the carbon steel. Not the prettiest job you'll ever see but ok for an amateur.

I figure if Bob can do it so can I . Got this 165 cylinder off fleabay for $39 . It had some broken fins and needed a bore job ( .030 ) . I have a boring machine but never fixed fins before. I ain't a'skeered of fin repair no more. Piece of cake Still need to do the other side blend them in but I'm pleased for my first effort.

Got the cylinder bored and the fins done . I still have to build and install the crank but I couldn't resist a little mock up to see how it looks. Put some spit shine on the side covers too
