I had a motor that had a softened clutch shaft. After about 4-5 miles of riding, my clutch would almost not work at all. When looking at the end of one of them, you could tell it was flattened down. I dressed it, adjusted the clutch and tried it again but it did the same thing. I put a new one in and all was good after that. I'm not saying your problem is the same, just this was my experience.

That too is My guess on this one.
I'll be contacting Mutt to get replacement components.
Probably just get a new clutch cable too, then at the least I'll have a spare.
