I’m riveting new brake shoe linings on and the rivet tool I ordered won’t quite work. I’m wondering what other people have used to set the rivets. I realize It’s more work than just buying new brake shoes but I prefer doing things myself if possible.
Thanks!

This is what ya need. When ya get it, find a piece of 3/8" steel round rod anout 6" long. and drill a 3/16" hole in one end of it. Install the die into the hole and you have the correct tool https://www.rivetsonline.com/18-tubular ... o-200-4504 You can probably find one a lot cheaper on eBay or if you care to pay the ridiculous shipping price of the Post Office, both ways, I'll send ya mine to borrow

Thanks for the reply and for the offer. And I’d take you up on yours but I better make my own so I’ll have it around for the next time.
What do you use to set against the head of the rivet to keep it sunk down past the surface of the shoe liner while your tapping the rivet?
Or I guess , how is your process once your ready to set the rivets?
Thanks!
