Front fork assembly

Postby Emerica1975 » Sat Jun 24, 2023 11:24 pm

I’ve been working on putting a 165 together and have had the front end off the frame several times. However every time I have to put the fork tube caps back on I have a hell of a time getting the top cap of fork to thread into the fork tube and also thread onto the fork spring without over tightening the spring and causing the spring to be distorted. Or I get the spring snug in the cap then I can’t get the cap spring assembly to thread onto the slider and thread into the fork tube without the spring becoming over tightened and not allowing for the cap to screw all the way into the tube. I’m hoping maybe there’s a trick to assembling these parts that someone could share. Thanks!!!

I just realized if I remove the front wheel then the whole assembly goes together pretty much trouble free. Now I just wish I hadn’t ever over tweaked my springs.

Mutt has new springs for a very reasonable price.
