Here's where to ask questions and get answers

I’ve been working on making a stuffer plate. I have a couple questions though ,about the lip on the outside diameter. Is it on either face or both faces of the plate ? And also does the plate need to be snug almost a “tapped” in fit into the recess or can it be a hair smaller than the recess in the left side case?

the lip is off center, on the outer edge of the plate. It needs to be a snug fit in the recess

I got the stuffer plate made as far as has been explained. Here’s a photo of it in the case half. I guess now they get pinned in place maybe?

With the higher compression will the carb jet and metering tube need to be modified/changed?

What should I use for a pin and what size (round stock?) and do the pins go through stuffer plate and into one case half or both case half’s? How deep should the pins go into the case half? And do I grind the lip off of the right side case half that goes into the recess on the left case half. And when you said to machine a lip on the outside diameter of the stuffer plate and that it would not be centered how do I make sure the stuffer plate actually sits directly in the middle of the crank weights? And last but not least would you happen to have any pictures that show the stuffer plate located in the case half with the pins installed? Sorry for all the questions!! But thanks for all the help!

it is pinned into the case it sits in. The pin will sit flush with the lip on the plate. 3/32 pins. Just cut a couple off the end of a drill bit. 1/8" into the case is plenty. Yes and no, you have to remove the lip off the case. Centering the plate is easy. Just measure the depth of the recess. The distance from the bottom of the plate to the opposite side of the lip will be 1/2. I just put one back in a motor a few weeks ago, but I didnt take any pictures. But there is an easier way than pinning. Using a file, file off all of the lip on the PLATE, leaving only two slots about 3/8" long, one at 3 and one at 9 oclock.. Insert plate into case that has the lip. Transfer the slots onto the case lip and file the 2 slots into the case lip. It can be done easily in 10 minutes.

Thanks for the instructions. I think I understand everything to do to get the plate secured in the cases but I still don’t understand centering the plate in the crankweights.
Am i supposed to measure from bottom of recess in left case to top side of stuffer plate and that distance should be 1/2 inch? Because when I machined the lip onto my plate I just tried to machine a lip to the dimension required and didn’t pay attention to wear it went on the outside diameter. But i did make sure it wasn’t dead center.
