Carburetor return spring

Postby brian4.2 » Fri Feb 02, 2024 10:14 pm

I am about to fire it up for the first time. I cant find spring in the parts book or the workshop manual. Is there a spring to return the throttle to idle? If not a spring, how is that done?

1958 125 with the standard carb.

A lot of early motorcycles did not have return springs. If they do have a return spring, the spring is not like today’s bikes where they ‘snap’ shut. You simply rotate the throttle grip in the opposite direction to return to idle. This doesn’t mean you can’t set us a return spring. It is a little different from today’s bikes, but what American Made 2-Stroke Harley-Davidson isn’t?
