timing

Postby schrizo » Thu Aug 23, 2018 12:54 pm

Hello all. I have a 58 Hummer and after much work getting the varnish out of the tank I have it running. My question is, because it is very hard to start should I advance the timing a little?? I have it set for the points to close at exactly TDC. Any help would be appreciated. These things are torture to kick with the pegs being so close to the downward kick. Thank you, Reg.

You would retard the timing for easier starting (turn clockwise) when timed correctly you should be able to start the motor with your hand. Timing is 7/32" BTDC. Points should just start to break at this measurement
